Our Story

Garner Abstract & Land Co. was established in 1891 as one of the first businesses in Uvalde, Texas.


Our base plant is the only sovereign Uvalde County title plant, and we have an extensive historical file base that is kept up-to-date. With the name legacy of the original owner - former United States Vice-President John Nance Garner - our business and its working team take leadership responsibility in our community and industry seriously and we strive to be the best we can be in all facets - both in office and out.


Owner John Dodson purchased Garner Abstract & Land Co. in December 2015 in order to start building a network of title operations to serve families and businesses throughout the great State of Texas. Raised as a rancher and educated as a lawyer - our Owner and Examiner loves the land - Serving our clients in land transactions is a combination of his skill and passion.

As the title insurance industry expands to be more fluid across county lines, we are aligning with key contacts to service transactions without boundaries. We daily look for ways on how we can improve to best meet the needs of our clients while aligning with our commitment to creating a positive memorable experience with each transaction. Having an in-house owner attorney team to handle our title exams allows for more direct communication with other settlement attorneys when and if the need arises to address title objections and curative issues.
